Arbroath v Airdrieonians Cup Tie Postponed

Football

The Scottish Challenge Cup match between Arbroath and Airdrieonians was called off on Tuesday due to severe weather conditions.

Arbroath's Scottish Challenge Cup quarter-final against Airdrieonians was postponed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. High winds at Gayfield Park, Arbroath, forced the decision to call off the fixture. The match had been scheduled for a 19:45 GMT kick-off.

The severe weather conditions have impacted several Scottish football fixtures recently. Arbroath's head coach, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, had noted the significant bearing high winds had on their televised draw with Morton just days prior. Airdrieonians are previous winners of the Challenge Cup, having lifted the trophy in both the 2008-09 and 2023-24 seasons. A new date for the rearranged tie will be announced by the Scottish Professional Football League in due course. Ayr United's quarter-final visit to St Johnstone was also postponed on Tuesday due to a waterlogged pitch.
