AFC Bournemouth has completed the loan signing of Greek goalkeeper Christos Mandas from Serie A club Lazio. The deal, announced on January 27, will see Mandas remain with the Cherries until the end of the 2025-26 season.
The agreement includes an option for Bournemouth to make the transfer permanent for £16m, which would activate if Mandas makes a specified number of appearances. A loan fee of £1.3m is also part of the arrangement, according to reports.
Mandas, aged 24, expressed his happiness at joining, noting a "magical atmosphere between the players and the fans" at the club. He made one appearance for Lazio this season, keeping a clean sheet in a Coppa Italia fixture against AC Milan. Bournemouth sought additional goalkeeping depth following an injury to Will Dennis. Mandas becomes the first Greek player to represent AFC Bournemouth. He previously made 33 first-team appearances for Lazio after joining in 2023.
