Football

Former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly close to signing for Scottish champions Celtic as a free agent.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 32, is in advanced discussions to join Celtic, with a medical potentially taking place today, February 5. The midfielder became a free agent after his release from Turkish club Besiktas in August 2025. He has since maintained fitness by training with his former club, Arsenal.

Celtic aims to complete the deal swiftly to register Oxlade-Chamberlain for their Europa League knockout stage squad, facing a UEFA deadline today. Manager Martin O'Neill confirmed talks with the player. Oxlade-Chamberlain previously played for Arsenal and Liverpool, winning three FA Cups, the Champions League, and the Premier League. He also earned 35 caps for England. Reports suggest his preference was to remain closer to London for family reasons, but negotiations with Celtic are progressing.
