Dennis Geiger, the 27-year-old German central midfielder, has completed a loan move to Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen from TSG Hoffenheim. The deal, confirmed on Monday, sees Geiger join the Dons until the end of the current season. Aberdeen also secured an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
Geiger expressed his desire for a "restart, a new beginning" after failing to make a single appearance for Hoffenheim this season. He reportedly found himself out of favour with Hoffenheim management after criticising the club. The former Germany Under-21 international has a contract with Hoffenheim until 2027 and has made nearly 150 appearances for the German side across all competitions.
He told Aberdeen's website he wants to "push myself out of my comfort zone and take on this new challenge." Geiger described his playing style, stating he likes to be aggressive and believes in his technical ability, possessing a strong mentality.
