The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has terminated the contract of manager Otto Addo. The decision comes 72 days before the men's national team begins its 2026 World Cup campaign in June. Addo returned for a second spell in charge in March 2024 but leaves his post following a run of poor results, according to Reuters.
Ghana suffered recent defeats which led the GFA executive council to seek a change in leadership. The association aims to appoint a successor quickly to oversee final preparations for the tournament in North America. Addo previously led the Black Stars during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before stepping down and then later returning to the role.
Technical staff changes are expected to follow the departure of the 50-year-old former Borussia Dortmund talent coach. The GFA has not yet named an interim replacement for the upcoming international fixtures. Ghana remains scheduled to face group stage opponents in the United States this summer, per reports from ESPN.
