Newcastle manager Eddie Howe stated he was 'not doing my job well enough' following Saturday's 3-2 Premier League defeat by Brentford.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe accepted full responsibility after his side suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Brentford at St James' Park on Saturday. Howe told reporters he was 'not doing my job well enough' following the Premier League loss, adding that he must 'think long and hard' about his performance. The Magpies were booed from the pitch after the final whistle.

Sven Botman opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 24th minute, but Brentford responded with goals from Vitaly Janelt in the 37th minute and an Igor Thiago penalty just before half-time. Bruno Guimaraes equalised from the spot for Newcastle in the 79th minute, but Dango Ouattara secured the win for Brentford with a late strike in the 85th minute.

This result marked Newcastle's third home defeat in four matches across all competitions. The club has now dropped nineteen Premier League points from winning positions this season, a league high. Newcastle currently sit twelfth in the Premier League table, with Brentford in seventh position after their victory.
