Howe: I would resign if not right for Newcastle job

Football

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has stated he would step down if he felt he was no longer the correct person to lead the club.

Eddie Howe confirmed he would resign as Newcastle United manager if he believed he was not the right man for the role. Howe, however, insisted there was "no doubt in my mind" he remained the correct person to take the team forward.

The comments follow a difficult period for the club, which has seen them secure only one win in their last eight matches across all competitions. This run includes three consecutive Premier League defeats. Newcastle lost 3-2 at home to Brentford on Saturday, 7 February, prompting boos from supporters.

The Magpies currently sit 12th in the Premier League table. They were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Manchester City, but remain in the Champions League and FA Cup. Howe made these remarks ahead of Newcastle's Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
