Midfielder Dan Neil has joined Ipswich Town on loan from Sunderland until the end of the current season.

Ipswich Town completed the loan signing of midfielder Dan Neil from Sunderland on Tuesday. The 24-year-old will remain at Portman Road until the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign, at which point he will depart the Black Cats permanently as his contract expires. Ipswich are currently pushing for promotion in the Championship.

Neil played a significant role in Sunderland's journey from League One to the Premier League, featuring in two promotions. He captained the club during their successful 2025 Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley. The midfielder made 201 appearances for Sunderland, scoring 12 goals, since his professional debut in September 2020. He had seen limited Premier League minutes this season for Sunderland.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna expressed his satisfaction with the signing, noting Neil's versatility and Championship experience. Neil stated Ipswich was the "perfect fit" for his development, aligning with the manager's playing style. He will wear the number six shirt for Town.
