Abdukodir Khusanov endured a difficult Manchester City debut but has since established himself as a key defender for the club.

Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov made a challenging start to his Manchester City career. His Premier League debut against Chelsea on 25 January 2025 saw him make an error leading to Noni Madueke's opening goal within minutes, followed by a booking. Manager Pep Guardiola defended the young centre-back, calling the experience a "best lesson".

Khusanov has since recovered impressively, becoming a mainstay in City's defence, particularly amidst injuries to other key players. His composure and tactical discipline have earned praise. He was recently voted Manchester City's Player of the Month for January 2026, securing the award ahead of high-profile teammates.

The 21-year-old defender also scored his first goal for the club in his FA Cup debut on 8 February 2025, against Leyton Orient. Khusanov is available for City's upcoming Premier League fixture against Fulham, despite a recent head knock.
