Leicester City has been docked six points by the English Football League (EFL) for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The immediate sanction, applied on Thursday, 5 February 2026, sees the club fall to 20th position in the Championship table.
An independent disciplinary commission, appointed under Premier League rules, found Leicester City exceeded the PSR threshold by £20.8 million over the three-year assessment period ending with the 2023/24 season. The investigation into the club's alleged breaches transferred to the Premier League following Leicester's promotion in 2024. The commission also noted the club's failure to provide annual accounts by the deadline and a lack of exceptional cooperation.
The EFL Board ratified the commission's recommendation, applying the deduction to the Championship table with immediate effect. This penalty places Leicester City just outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
