Morecambe Football Club has announced the departure of manager Ashvir Singh Johal by mutual consent.

Morecambe Football Club has confirmed that manager Ashvir Singh Johal has left the club by mutual consent. The decision comes with the Shrimps currently second from bottom in the National League table after a run of poor results.

Johal, aged 30, was appointed on 19 August 2025, becoming the youngest manager in England's top five divisions and the first Sikh to lead a professional English club. He took charge during a challenging period, inheriting a squad with only five contracted players and subsequently signing twelve new players to stabilise the team. The club statement placed on record its sincere thanks to Johal for his commitment and dedication.

Assistant manager Lee Tomlin and first-team coach Neil Wainwright will take joint interim charge of first-team affairs while the club seeks a permanent replacement. Morecambe recently suffered a 5-2 defeat on Tuesday, further highlighting their struggles in the league.
