Newcastle United secured a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, sending both clubs to the playoff round.

Newcastle United secured a 1-1 draw against European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, January 28. The Champions League league phase fixture saw both clubs fail to achieve direct qualification for the last 16, a testament to Newcastle's resilience.

Paris Saint-Germain initially took the lead through Vitinha. However, Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope made a crucial save from an Ousmane Dembélé penalty, preventing the hosts from extending their advantage. Joe Willock then scored Newcastle's equaliser just before the half-time interval, levelling the score.

The hard-fought match concluded with both teams on 14 points in the league phase table. Consequently, Newcastle, finishing 12th, and PSG, finishing 10th, will now compete in the Champions League playoff round during February.
