Plymouth Boss Cleverley Handed Third Ban

Football

Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley has received his third touchline ban of the season after admitting an FA misconduct charge.

Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley has received a one-match touchline ban and a £2,000 fine, his third disciplinary action this season. The Football Association sanctioned Cleverley for misconduct after he was shown a red card during Argyle's 4-3 Vertu Trophy win against Bristol Rovers on January 13. Cleverley reacted angrily to a referee's decision, then struck the dugout, leading to his dismissal. He will serve this ban during the upcoming League One fixture against Mansfield Town.

Previously, Cleverley received a two-match touchline ban and a £4,000 fine in September 2025. This followed a red card for improper conduct and using abusive words towards a match official during a 3-2 League One victory at Luton Town. His first ban of the season was a one-match suspension for accumulating three yellow cards, with the third caution occurring in the Luton match.
