Reading's first team assistant kit manager, Richard Bone, has received a six-match stadium ban from the Football Association. The sanction follows a homophobic comment made towards a match referee during an EFL League One game against Huddersfield Town on 9 August 2025.
An independent Regulatory Commission found Bone in breach of FA Rule E3.1, which covers improper conduct, and E3.2, defining an "aggravated breach" when words include reference to sexual orientation. Bone admitted the charge against him.
The commission imposed a six-match stadium/ground suspension, a £200 fine, and mandatory education. This Standard Ground Ban immediately suspends Bone from participating in any domestic club football until Reading FC completes six first team competitive matches. The FA consistently takes a firm stance against discriminatory behaviour in football.
