The move followed racist abuse directed at his children, which the player revealed on social media on Friday, 31 January. Saint-Maximin, aged 28, stated he would never tolerate attacks on his family, though he could endure personal criticism.
The former Newcastle United player joined the Liga MX club in August 2025, making 15 appearances during his brief six-month spell. Club America confirmed his exit, issuing a statement that condemned all acts of discrimination and violence. Club America coach André Jardine described the incidents as "regrettable" and stressed that racism has no place in the world. The club also expressed absolute solidarity with Saint-Maximin and his family.
