Liverpool manager Arne Slot stated his team can still achieve "very special things" this season. Speaking on Tuesday, 27 January, Slot emphasised the need for improvement in both penalty boxes. He made these comments ahead of Liverpool's UEFA Champions League fixture against Qarabag on Wednesday.
The Reds currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, having won only five of their last 18 league matches. Their recent 3-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth ended a 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions. This indifferent form has led to increased scrutiny and "outside noise" around the club, according to Slot.
Slot noted that Liverpool are "a very good team" between the boxes. However, he refused to define what an "acceptable" season would entail, stating that for Liverpool, the aim is always to win the league. A victory against Qarabag would secure automatic qualification for the Champions League last-16 stage.
