Watford boss Gracia resigns after three months

Javi Gracia has resigned as Watford manager, ending his second spell at the club after just over three months in charge.

Javi Gracia resigned as Watford manager on Sunday, 1 February, after just over three months in his second spell at Vicarage Road. The Spaniard's departure followed a 2-0 home defeat to Swansea City on Saturday, which extended the Hornets' winless run to five matches in all competitions.

Watford currently sit tenth in the Championship table, four points adrift of the play-off positions with 17 matches remaining. The club confirmed Gracia's resignation, expressing sadness but accepting his decision as he felt he "no longer had the motivation" to continue coaching the team.

Gracia had returned to the club in October 2025, replacing Paulo Pezzolano, who was sacked after ten games. Assistant coaches Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling, and Adrian Mariappa will take interim charge for Watford's upcoming Championship fixture against Hull City on Tuesday.
